Company Profile
Crane Performance Siding, one of the Crane Plastics family of companies, is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. The company has two manufacturing facilities in the United States, as well as a vinyl siding plant in South America.
Founded in 1947 to produce precision parts, using a variety of plastic polymers, Crane Plastics quickly established a reputation for quality and innovation. During the 1950s, the company's unique expertise in the controlled extrusion of polyvinyl resin led to a 1957 joint venture with Monsanto in which Crane designed and engineered the world's first extrusion die system to produce a solid vinyl residential exterior siding. Over the next several years, Crane-manufactured vinyl siding products were marketed by such companies as Alside, Bendix, CertainTeed and Johns-Manville.
The introduction of Crane's proprietary line of siding and the opening of our original production plant in 1976 was followed by pioneering work that resulted in the introduction of the double clapboard configuration and Crane's advanced color technology. As a result of this ongoing growth and increased demand, our new state-of-the-art facility opened in 2000.
In keeping with the Crane tradition of innovation, our SOLID CORE SIDING® product line represents the introduction of a new insulated-back siding category to the marketplace. Crane products are recognized for their superior workmanship, durability and performance and are backed by a lifetime warranty that is the strongest in the industry.
